For the 21st time in his 10-season NHL career, Vincent Lecavalier got into a fight.
Vincent Lecavalier is not a small man. He's 6'4, and weighs about 215 pounds. Maxime Talbot is five inches shorter and roughly 20 pounds lighter. The two tangled at center ice in the third period of a hard-fought game that had already seen Zac Rinaldo attempt to murder B.J. Crombeen.
Though known more for his offensive ability, Lecavalier has averaged about two fights per year throughout his professional career, and can use his size to his advantage when he needs to. As pointed out in the video, Lecavalier was already playing with a bruised foot, so this fight may not his smartest decision.
He seems to get the better of Talbot in the bout, though, and in the end, isn't that what really matters? I mean, aside from the score of the game. The Lightning lost, 2-1, by the way. Having one of their best players in the penalty box for five of the last eight minutes of the game probably didn't help.
