Brad Marchand will be unavailable for the Boston Bruins game against the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday night.
Boston Bruins forward Brad Marchand will not be playing in the team's contest against the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday night, according to head coach Claude Julien on Wednesday afternoon.
Marchand appeared to sustain some kind of shoulder injury when he awkwardly fell into the boards after making contact with Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender James Reimer in the second period on Saturday night. The Bruins forward left the game to be examined in the team's locker room, but did return for the remainder of the period.
However, he did not play in the third.
Julien stated after the game that Marchand could have played but the team wanted to be cautious. The coach did not believe that he would be forced to miss any more time.
Ultimately, Marchand was unable to practice on Wednesday and will not be in the lineup against Montreal. Julien stated that he is close to a return and the team is hopeful that he will be available on Thursday night when they host the Tampa Bay Lightning.
