Ryan Nugent-Hopkins will not be available for the Edmonton Oilers game against the Dallas Stars on Wednesday night due to an injury.
Edmonton Oilers forward Ryan Nugent-Hopkins will not be available for the team's contest against the Dallas Stars on Wednesday night, according to head coach Ralph Krueger on Wednesday afternoon.
Nugent-Hopkins was tagged with a hard hit in the team's 3-2 overtime loss against the Vancouver Canucks on Monday night. The young forward was unable to participate in practice on Wednesday and is apparently still sore from the hit.
Krueger stated that although Nugent-Hopkins could have played on Wednesday, he didn't want to risk him playing if he wasn't in top-form. He is expected to be available on Saturday afternoon against the Detroit Red Wings.
It is believed that 24-year-old American Hockey League call-up Mark Arcobello will take Nugent-Hopkins' place on the top-line with Taylor Hall and Jordan Eberle. Arcobello was recalled on Tuesday due to the injuries to Shawn Horcoff and Eric Belanger.
Arcobello has yet to play in an NHL, but has excelled with Edmonton's AHL affiliate, the Oklahoma City Barons. In 43 games this season, Arcobello has registered 14 goals, 25 assists, 39 points and 20 penalty minutes.
