Ryan Callahan will return to the New York Rangers lineup after missing three games with a shoulder subluxation.
New York Rangers captain Ryan Callahan will return to action against the New York Islanders on Thursday night, according to multiple reports following the team's morning skate on Thursday.
The contest will be Callahan's first since suffering a shoulder subluxation while engaging in a fight with Maxime Talbot of the Philadelphia Flyers on Jan. 29. In total, Callahan only missed three games while recovering from the injury.
The captain returned to practice on Feb. 4 and participated in a non-contact capacity. Stating afterwards that he believed his recovery to be on track, it appears he has progressed well enough to return to action.
The original prognosis estimated that he would miss 10-14 days.
During morning skate, it was reported that Callahan skated on the third line with Chris Kreider and J.T. Miller during line rushes.
With Callahan returning to the line-up, coach John Tortorella has decided to sit Brian Boyle as a healthy scratch.
