The NHL schedule on Wednesday night only has three games on the docket, but that doesn't mean they aren't of consequence.
With two divisional games in the Eastern Conference and a showdown between the Calgary Flames and Detroit Red Wings out west, Wednesday's schedule is complete with compelling match-ups.
The Montreal Canadiens will host their division rivals, the Ottawa Senators, who trail the Habs by seven points in the Northeast. Ottawa will have a chance to gain ground, as well as distance themselves from the Toronto Maple Leafs in what has become one of the NHL's toughest divisions.
In addition, the Philadelphia Flyers are looking to keep their playoff hopes alive with a strong showing against the New Jersey Devils. Goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov stated that team needs to register wins against New Jersey in their home-and-home or else the team's season might be all but over.
