Andrew Shaw made a smart move in his fight against Matt Calvert.
Late in the first period of a scoreless game, Andrew Shaw and Matt Calvert engaged in a spirited fight that saw a lot of punches thrown, but little real damage done to either player.
Neither Shaw nor Calvert are feared fighters, and neither is over six feet tall, but in this even matchup they both showed their skills -- Shaw showing some savvy by actually taking Calvert's helmet off during the fight. Punching an unprotected face is a lot more fun than punching a visor, after all.
Following the fight, some fans were wondering on Twitter why Calvert didn't get an extra penalty for fighting with a visor. That penalty only applies if a player wearing a visor instigates a fight, which Calvert didn't do here.
