Jamie Benn criticizes the Stars' effort after blowout loss to Blackhawks

Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

"They gave us a wakeup call tonight."

The Chicago Blackhawks walked into the American Airlines Center in Dallas on Saturday night and completely dismantled the Stars in front of their home crowd. The 8-1 loss is one of the worst in franchise history and makes the Dallas Stars' road to the playoffs that much tougher.

Dallas center Jamie Benn had some strong criticism of his team during the postgame interviews:

Here's his quotes:

"We sh---ed on our first goalie and we sh---ed on our second goalie. We left them to hang out to dry and it's unacceptable. We need to do something within this room to change that. It's an unacceptable effort tonight."

"These guys gave us a wakeup call tonight."

Jamie Benn is one of the more even-keeled players on the Stars, so to see him crane his neck and try so hard to keep his emotions under control is really impressive from such a young player. He told it like it was, and the Stars now find themselves even further back in the playoff hunt.
