Anaheim Ducks re-sign Corey Perry to 8-year extension

Kelvin Kuo-USA TODAY Sports

The Ducks will have Corey Perry's services for the rest of the decade, as they inked their star to an extension Monday. No financials details were disclosed.

The Anaheim Ducks have locked up both of their stars, as the Ducks announced on Monday evening that they had signed Corey Perry to an eight-year extension.

No financial details were disclosed, but the length of the deal is the same as the $66 million deal the Ducks signed Ryan Getzlaf to a few weeks ago.

Both Getzlaf and Perry were to become unrestricted free agents July 1, but GM Bob Murray somehow managed to keep both stars from testing the market. Here's what Perry had to say:

"Staying in Anaheim has always been my first choice," said Perry. "This is a great place to play, and I'm very grateful to have the opportunity to remain here. I want to thank to the Samuelis and the entire Ducks organization for their belief in me. I'm pleased to have this done so our focus can remain on our ultimate goal -- bringing another Stanley Cup to Orange County."

The NHL Network's Kevin Weekes reported earlier in the evening that the Ducks were on the verge of signing Perry. According to Weekes, the deal is structured under the same terms as Ryan Getzlaf's. Turns out he was correct.
