San Jose Sharks forward Ryane Clowe is expected to return to the lineup for Wednesday night's game against the Anaheim Ducks, according to head coach Todd McLellan.
Clowe has missed the team's last four games due to an upper-body injury that is believed to be related to his shoulder. Clowe is believed to have sustained the injury against the Los Angeles Kings on March 16, but some have speculated that his performance this season has been altered due to lingering injury.
Clowe has yet to score a goal this season and has compiled nine assists in 25 games. Last year, he recorded 17 goals and 28 assists for 45 points. Currently playing in the final year of a four-year, $14.5 million contract, Clowe is set to become an unrestricted free agent at the conclusion of the year. This had led to speculation that San Jose might look to trade the 30-year-old forward to a contending team.
With Clowe out of the lineup, his value was believed to be taking a hit. Now, with the deadline a week away, Clowe will have a chance to display what he has to offer to potential teams of interest.
