Garon left the ice and Anders Lindbak replaced him.
Another night, another goalie injury in the NHL. First it was Jose Theodore. Then Cam Ward. And now the Lightning are the latest Southeast team to lose a netminder to an injury, as Mathieu Garon left the ice in the second period against the Pittsburgh Penguins after hurting himself somehow.
It's not entirely clear how he was injured or what ailment he's suffering from, but Garon was apparently in enough pain to pull himself from the game after speaking with a Tampa Bay trainer. Anders Lindback took over in net. It's even more bad news for a Tampa Bay team that is desperately trying to climb back into the playoff picture in the East.
