Thomas Vanek has missed the last two games with an upper-body injury, but will return to the lineup on Tuesday night.

Buffalo Sabres forward Thomas Vanek is expecting to play in the team's game against the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday night, according to an announcement on the team's Twitter account.

Vanek had missed the team's previous two games due to an undisclosed upper-body injury. Head coach Ron Rolston described the ailment as a short-term issue and hoped Vanek would return to the lineup in the near future. As of Tuesday morning, Vanek leads the Sabres in all three primary offensive categories (12 goals, 15 assists and 27 points).

Despite the absence of their leading scorer and offensive linchpin, the Sabres managed to register points in both games Vanek missed. Earning a shootout victory over the New Jersey Devils on Saturday afternoon, the team lost the next day via a shootout against the New York Rangers.

Vanek ranks fifth in the league in total points, but has not scored a goal in his last five games and only has two points over that span.
