NHL schedule: Five questions for Tuesday

USA TODAY Sports

A daily feature which asks the five hardest-hitting questions imaginable about this day in the NHL. Will our quandaries be answered? (That doesn't count as one of the five questions.)

1. Will the Boston Bruins and/or Toronto Maple Leafs clinch playoff berths?

Boston can do so with a loss by the Winnipeg Jets. The Maple Leafs will end their playoff drought with a victory and a regulation loss by Winnipeg.

2. Can the Washington Capitals extend their seven-game winning streak?

The Capitals have been on fire and will look to delay the Maple Leafs' playoff plans by recording their eighth consecutive win.

3. How will the Edmonton Oilers respond to Steve Tambellini's firing?

The Oilers decided to fire their general manager on Monday. Will the shift in leadership inspire the Oilers to end their five-game losing streak?

4. Will the Eastern Conference's playoff picture look any different on Wednesday morning?

The New York Islanders, Rangers and Senators are all in action on Tuesday night. Each team is separated from the team below them by a single point. Will there be any movement?

5. Who will control the fourth seed in the West?

If the playoffs started on Tuesday, the Los Angeles Kings would be hosting the San Jose Sharks in the first round. Luckily for ticket promoters and event coordinators, the playoffs are not starting on Tuesday night. Regardless, the Kings are still playing the Sharks. The two teams are separated by a single point. Who will control the fourth seed by the end of the night?
