NHL Schedule: Five questions for Friday

Geoff Burke-US PRESSWIRE

A daily feature which asks the five hardest-hitting questions imaginable about this day in the NHL. Will our quandaries be answered? (That doesn't count as one of the five questions.)

1. Will the Buffalo Sabres keep their playoff hopes alive against the New York Rangers?

Buffalo has won three straight and can pull within two points of the eighth seed with a regulation victory against the Rangers.

2. Will the Chicago Blackhawks extend their six-game winning streak?

All Chicago has done this season is win. The team is 8-1-1 in their last 10 and will look to win their seventh straight game with a victory over the Nashville Predators on Friday night.

3. Will the Edmonton Oilers end their six-game losing streak?

Times have been tough in Edmonton. On Friday, they will have a chance to snap their extended slide against the last-place Colorado Avalanche.

4. Will the Dallas Stars take over the eighth seed in the Western Conference?

The Stars will do so with a victory against the St. Louis Blues on Friday night. They hold the tie-breaker with the Columbus Blue Jackets who currently hold the position.

5. Will the Anaheim Ducks sweep their season series with the Calgary Flames?

Calgary has lost both contests this season against the Ducks? Anaheim will look to improve their five-point lead over the Vancouver Canucks for the second seed in the West.
