Don Cherry says women shouldn't be allowed in locker rooms

USA TODAY Sports

Cherry's comments were in reference to Duncan Keith's recent comments.

Don Cherry's thoughts on women in the media on Hockey Night In Canada made up for what his suit lacked in colorfulness on Saturday.

Unprompted, Cherry decided to bring up the recent controversy surrounding Duncan Keith's apparent sexist remarks to a female reporter. Cherry offered up his opinion, saying, "I don't believe women should be in the male dressing room."

Ron MacLean's reaction was priceless:

Cherry defended his point by talking about his first interaction with a female reporter during his playing days, when guys were naked in the locker room.

"I don't feel women are equal, I think they are above us," Cherry said. "I think they're on a pedestal, and they should not be walking in when naked guys are walking in."

Two things here. First of all, most teams have the players get dressed these days before they speak to the media. Times have changed. Second of all, the fact that Cherry tried to save himself by saying women are better than men when he just said they shouldn't be treated the same as male reporters is laughable.
