Blake Comeau traded to Columbus Blue Jackets

Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

The Blue Jackets have made yet another big trade, acquiring forward Blake Comeau just before the NHL trade deadline passed.

The Calgary Flames have traded veteran winger Blake Comeau to the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for a fifth-round draft pick, according to TSN's Aaron Ward.

Comeau has spent most of his career with the New York Islanders, playing most of five seasons on Long Island after being drafted in the second round in 2004. The 27-year old enjoyed his most success during a 24-goal, 46-point campaign in 2010-2011, before being traded to Calgary 16 games into the 2011-12 season.

Things haven't gone as smoothly in Calgary, as expected, with Comeau producing just 22 points in 91 games along with a minus-9 rating in 33 games this season.

The Blue Jackets have been aggressive at the deadline, acquiring Marian Gaborik from the New York Rangers as the team prepares for a big push into the postseason. GM Jarmo Kekalainen has also moved goaltender Steve Mason to the Philadelphia Flyers on a very busy deadline day in Columbus.
