The Toronto Maple Leafs have recalled Joe Colborne from their American Hockey League affiliate, the Toronto Marlies, according to Darren Dreger of TSN on Thursday morning.
Colborne will be replacing forward Frazer McLaren who has fallen ill with the flu. McLaren has registered three goals, one assist, four points and 63 penalty minutes in 27 games this season. He enters competition on Thursday night averaging 5:09 of ice-time per game, which is the lowest total of any other forward on the Maple Leafs.
Colborne is currently the second leading scorer on the Marlies, registering 14 goals and 28 assists for 42 points in 65 games. After starting off the year slowly with 10 points (two goals, eight assists) over 28 games, Colborne has increased his production with 32 points (12 goals, 20 assists) over the last 37 contests.
The 23-year-old forward has appeared in 11 career NHL regular season games, collecting one goal and five assists for six points.
