Tampa Bay Lightning captain Vincent Lecavalier will be returning to the starting lineup on Thursday against the Carolina Hurricanes, according to multiple reports from the team's morning skate.
Lecavalier has been unavailable since sustaining a broken bone in his foot against the Florida Panthers on March 12. He was placed on injured reserve on March 14 and was expected to miss more than seven days while recovering and has missed the team's last nine games.
On March 19, Damien Cristodero of the Tampa Bay Times reported that Lecavalier had broken a bone in his foot. According to his source, the minor fracture was either near or directly on a bone bruise that was sustained after Lecavalier was hit in the foot with a shot by teammate Sami Salo on Feb. 2.
The Lightning captain returned to practice on Tuesday in a non-contact sweater and was believed to be nearing a return. Many projected Thursday night as a possibility.
Lecavalier has registered seven goals and 15 assists for 22 points in 26 games played this season.
