Late in a frustrating loss on Thursday for the Winnipeg Jets against the Montreal Canadiens, Evander Kane and Alexei Emelin got into a fight after a shoving match along the boards. Kane dominated the bout, tore Emelin's helmet off -- and then nearly hit him in the head with it while throwing it down to the ice.
It doesn't look to be an intentional attempt by Kane to hit Emelin with his own helmet — which would likely result in a severe suspension — though it's hard to know for certain exactly what his intention was.
This was Kane's seventh career NHL fight since entering the league in the 2008-09 season. It was the third career fight for Emelin. Both players received fighting penalties, and Kane was awarded an additional misconduct penalty.
The Jets lost the game, 4-1.
