Ducks fans welcome Justin Schultz to Anaheim with 'Judas Schultz' signs

Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

Anaheim returned the favor for his summer departure.

If you weren't sleeping under a rock this past summer, you might remember the Justin Schultz saga that unfolded. Schultz was an original Anaheim Ducks draft pick, but was able to become a free agent last summer when the Ducks failed to sign him to a contract. So Schultz decided to leave Anaheim and sign with the Edmonton Oilers without ever donning the jersey of the team that drafted him.

That, coupled with the fact Schultz is having a breakout year with the Oilers, is more than enough to cause some animosity between him and Ducks fans. They finally got their chance to tell him how they felt tonight when he visited Anaheim, and they didn't pull any punches.

Comparing Schultz to the man who betrayed Jesus seems excessive.

There was also this sign, which was slightly more tame:

Take that, Justin! Unfortunately, the Ducks fans couldn't carry that momentum over into the actual game.
