Sharks vs. Kings Game 2 recap: Los Angeles scores 2 in final minutes to win

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The Sharks took the lead in the 3rd, but the Kings were able to score twice on the power play in the final minutes to win the game 4-3.

After the Sharks finally solved Jonathan Quick in the second period of Game 2, the third period began with the score tied 2-2.

The Kings got a scare early in the final period when Anze Kopitar took a puck to the face:

Kopitar would miss about half a period before returning. The Kings had to scramble their forward lines to compensate while he was out, as they were already missing Jarret Stoll due to his injury in game one.

After taking a hard hit at the end of the second period, Marc-Edouard Vlasic would return to start the third, and would score midway through the period to put the Sharks ahead 3-2:

San Jose would hold the lead until the Kings tied the game on a late 5-on-3 power play:

And then in a stunner, the Kings would score AGAIN, this time 5-on-4:

The Kings scored their two goals just 22 seconds apart to win game two, and lead the series 2-0 as it heads back to San Jose.

Will Antti Niemi rebound from a merely average Game 1?

It didn't look good early, as Niemi gave up a goal on the first shot of the game for the Kings, but Niemi settled in and looked solid for most of the night. It's hard to fault him for any of the goals.

Who will replace the key minutes Jarret Stoll provides?

Brad Richardson saw more playing time for the Kings in the absence of Stoll, and made the best of his opportunity with a nice assist on the second goal of the game for the Kings.

Is Slava Voynov turning into the postseason's most potent defenseman?

Voynov didn't score in game two, though he did have three hits and nearly 22 minutes of ice time.

The series continues with Game 3 on Saturday.
