Bruins vs. Maple Leafs: Andrew Ference has hearing with NHL Department of Player Safety

Andrew Ference is scheduled to have a hearing with the NHL Department of Player Safety for his elbow on Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mikhail Grabovski.

Boston Bruins defenseman Andrew Ference will have a hearing with the NHL Department of Player Safety on Thursday afternoon, according to John Shannon of Sportsnet.

The hearing will take place at 2 p.m., ET and is related to Ference's elbow on Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mikhail Grabovski during Wednesday night's playoff game. The incident occurred the 13-minute mark of the first period in the Boston defensive zone during a Toronto power play.

Ference sticks out his elbow and makes contact with Grabovski's head. No penalty was called on the play.

Grabovski was able to play for the remainder of the game, recording a total of nine shifts through the first period (his highest total of the three periods played). He finished the contest with a total of 15:25 played, with his highest total coming in the third period (5:30).

Ference was suspended for three games during the 2011-12 regular season for boarding New York Rangers defenseman Ryan McDonagh.
