Karate Kid Ralph Macchio is excited for NHL playoffs

Playoff fever gets the best of hockey fans young and old each spring.

The Karate Kid is no different.

Ralph Macchio, the actor who starred in the series of "Karate Kid" movies in the 1980s, shared his joy via Twitter Sunday as tailgaters prepared for a noon start at Nassau Coliseum.

That's the aging arena where Long Island natives like Macchio haven't had the chance to see a home playoff game since 2007.

They were there for Game 3 between the New York Islanders and the Pittsburgh Penguins, which opened to a flurry of goals in the first period.
