Rene Bourque elbows Cory Conacher

USA TODAY Sports

In a 3rd period gone mad, Rene Bourque crossed the line.

The situation began deteriorating in Ottawa shortly after the Senators scored to go ahead 4-1 in the game. Tempers were running short and penalties had been frequent all night long, and it all came to a head with a massive line brawl and several more fights that left both benches nearly empty:

But in between the fights, something else happened. Montreal's Rene Bourque totally, obviously, elbowed Cory Conacher in the head:

Hey man, that's not cool. Fighting is one thing, but this is DEFINITELY not allowed.

Bourque recieved a two-minute roughing minor penalty on the play, which seems ... insufficient. He can probably expect some supplemental league discipline for this move, once the Department of Player Safety is finished watching all the awesome fight videos from this game.
