No suspension for Bolland on Richards hit

Chicago Blackhawks forward Dave Bolland delivered a hit on Los Angeles Kings center Mike Richards that had everyone talking yesterday. The hit, delivered late in the Blackhawks' Game 1 win in the 2013 Western Conference Final, was considered questionable by many. Bolland, however, will face no supplemental discipline for the hit, according to reports.

The replay of the hit shows that Bolland looks like he's leaving his feet on the hit. It's an extremely awkward play in which Bolland appears to lead with his back, or the back of his shoulder. He made contact with Richards' chin. Richards skated off on his own power, but appeared to be in trouble.

Bolland agreed with the decision, obviously. "[Richards] was there, I just came in and hit him and [then later] drew the penalty," said Bolland, who took a tripping penalty later in the third period when he hauled down Jeff Carter. "It's a quick game, hard-hitting game; that's just the way it is," he said. "You get hit, it happens. It's happened to me."

Bolland will be in the lineup for Game 2 on Sunday night.
