Artem Anisimov agrees to three-year contract extension with Blue Jackets

Artem Anisimov and the Columbus Blue Jackets have agreed on a three-year contract extension that will keep the center away from restricted free agency.

The Columbus Blue Jackets have agreed to terms of a contract extension with pending-restricted free agent forward Artem Anisimov, the team announced Wednesday.

The three-year deal is worth a total of $9.85 million, according to TSN's Bob McKenzie, and will carry an annual average value of $3.2 million.

Anisimov was acquired by the Blue Jackets last season as part of the trade that sent Rick Nash to the New York Rangers. The 25-year-old was in the final-year of a two-year, $3.75 million contract that carried an annual average value of $1.8 million before agreeing to his new contract extension.

Anisimov contributed 18 points (11 goals, seven assists) and averaged 16:24 of ice time in 35 games this season while spending substantial time on the penalty kill (1:33 average) and power play units (1:42 average). Anisimov also recorded a solid 48.9 percent winning percentage in the faceoff circle, despite competing in the highest number of draws on the club (509 in total).
