Though his teammate and linemate, Nathan MacKinnon, may have grabbed more headlines during the season, there's no denying Drouin as a top prospect. On a line with MacKinnnon and Detroit Red Wings prospect Martin Frk, Drouin put up an insane 105 points in just 49 games during the regular season. He operated at a pace of two points per game during the Mooseheads' run to the Memorial Cup.
The Ste-Agathe, Quebec native is ranked No. 3 among all skaters by ISS, as well as among North American skaters by NHL Central Scouting. He is ranked No. 2 among all prospects by TSN's Craig Button. ISS suggests Drouin could project to be an elite playmaker in the vein of Pavel Datsyuk.
Here's a profile of Drouin from Jackets Cannon:
It's not a stretch to say that Drouin has the best hands in the league this year. His stickhandling abilities leave you on the edge of your seat, but his best asset, by far, is his vision on the ice. He can find teammates anywhere. At times this season even highly-skilled linemates MacKinnon and Martin Frk were surprised to have the puck on their sticks after a slick pass from Drouin.
