Penguins vs. Bruins Game 3 update: Insanity reigns in first overtime

Pittsburgh and Boston traded chances in one of the most exciting scoreless overtime periods you'll ever see.

The Penguins and Bruins were still tied 1-1 after the first overtime, but don't let that fool you into thinking there wasn't any action.

The game almost ended early in the extra frame, as the first half of the overtime period featured several near-goals for the Boston Bruins:



And Nathan Horton's shot off the post made the Boston crowd roar:


But great goaltending from Tomas Vokoun, combined with more than a little luck, meant that the game remained tied.

Boston had two power plays in the first overtime and Pittsburgh had one, but the officials also let a lot of physical play go without calling any penalties. That includes this monster hit from Deryk Engelland that sent Milan Lucic flying into Tomas Vokoun:


The shots were 46 to 34 in favor of the Penguins after the first overtime.
