2013 Stanley Cup Playoffs nightly GIF recap: Double the overtime, double the fun

USA TODAY Sports

Patrice Bergeron scored the game-winner for the Bruins as they beat the Penguins, 2-1, in overtime.

If you are trying to convince someone that a 2-1 hockey game can be one of the most exciting spectacles in sports, just show them a replay of game three between the Boston Bruins and the Pittsburgh Penguins. Here's what happened in easy-to-swallow GIF form:

The Bruins scored the game's first goal less than two minutes into the first period, and for a moment, the Penguins had to be concerned that they were in for another LONG night:

Chris Kunitz had a chance to tie the game in the first on the power play, but fumbled this glorious opportunity:

The Penguins finally managed to tie the game midway through the second, and it was Kunitz who scored, making up for his earlier gaffe:

Gregory Campbell was hurt blocking this Evgeni Malkin shot on the penalty kill in the second period. He didn't return for the remainder of the game.

The game got testier as the night wore on, and even normally squeaky-clean players such as Brad Marchand were doing nasty things like this:

There were no goals in the first overtime, but Deryk Engelland DID hit Milan Lucic really hard into Tomas Vokoun:
