NHL free agency: Arbitration dates set for 14 unsigned players

Marianne Helm

14 players will appear before arbiters between July 22 and Aug. 22 for their contract arbitration hearings.

The dates for salary arbitration have been set for the 14 players who elected to go through the process and have not yet agreed to contracts with their teams. The Winnipeg Jets will be regulars in front of the arbiters with four of their players set for hearings:

  • Sam Gagner, Edmonton - July 22
  • Chris Stewart, St. Louis - July 22
  • Bryan Little, Winnipeg - July 24
  • Nick Spaling, Nashville - July 25
  • Carl Gunnarsson, Toronto - July 26
  • Blake Wheeler, Winnipeg - July 29
  • Paul Postma, Winnipeg - July 30
  • Mark Fraser, Toronto - July 30
  • Mats Zuccarello, NY Rangers - July 31
  • Dale Weise, Vancouver - July 31
  • Robert Bortuzzo, Pittsburgh - Aug. 1
  • Jordan Nolan, Los Angeles - Aug. 1
  • Trevor Lewis, Los Angeles - Aug. 2
  • Zach Bogosian, Winnipeg - Aug. 2
Eight arbiters, jointly chosen by the NHL and NHLPA, will preside over the hearings. The ruling of the arbiter, which is limited to one or two-year deals, is final.

Originally, 21 players filed for arbitration, but seven of those players have since agreed to deals with their clubs and avoided the hearings:
  • Josh Bailey, NY Islanders
  • Erik Condra, Ottawa
  • Alex Martinez, Los Angeles
  • Jake Muzzin, Los Angeles
  • Brendan Smith, Detroit
  • Eric Tangradi, Winnipeg
  • Ryan White, Montreal
