Maple Leafs goaltender Jonathan Bernier and forward Nazem Kadri sustained injuries on Thursday.

Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Jonathan Bernier and forward Nazem Kadri sustained minor injuries on Thursday. They are expected to be fine, however, according to Darren Dreger of TSN.

Bernier is "nursing" an undisclosed injury that was sustained on Thursday morning, according to Jonas Siegel of TSN. Despite this, he attempted to play in Thursday night's exhibition game against the Ottawa Senators and managed to play the first 20 minutes before leaving the game due to discomfort. He stopped 10 of the 11 shots he faced.

Kadri sustained his injury during the second period when he blocked a shot with the palm of his glove. The palm is the least padded portion of the glove, obviously, and Kadri's audible scream could be heard over TSN's telecast of the game. He immediately left the contest but did return for the third period for a short time, ultimately sitting out the remainder of the game after taking two shifts in the final stanza.

Coach Randy Carlyle said Kadri wasn't comfortable holding the stick. X-rays were negative and the injury is being called a bruised hand.
