Giroux has sat out the team's exhibition slate to this point due to a hand injury he sustained while golfing earlier this offseason. Giroux's club shattered and sliced a tendon in his right index finger, which required surgery. The team originally projected that he would miss five-to-six weeks while recovering.
Giroux has been able to participate in practices but was limited in his ability to work with pucks. He recently began shooting and expressed a desire to return to action against the Devils. It's expected that Giroux will center the first line with Jakub Voracek and Scott Hartnell.
