Jaromir Jagr finally practices with the Devils

The future Hall of Famer missed the first week or so of camp with what he described as injuries to his "back, hip muscles."

The New Jersey Devils finally have evidence of Jaromir Jagr appearing on their practice surface.

After a week or so of either sitting out or skating on his own, the legendary Czech forward practiced at AmeriHealth Pavilion in Newark on Tuesday. He skated with a group that won't be in Philadelphia for New Jersey's pre-season game against the Flyers Tuesday night. His status is still unclear for New Jersey's pre-season finale against the Flyers in Newark on Thursday.

Jagr told reporters that he suffered from injuries to back and hip muscles, and believes it happened during his 15-hour flight from the Czech Republic. He said his goal, whether he plays on Thursday or not, is to be ready for the team's season opener on Oct. 3 in Pittsburgh.

The 41-year-old legend signed a one-year, $4 million deal with New Jersey during the off-season, which includes $2 million guaranteed and $2 million in incentives should he play 40 or more games. Jagr has 681 career goals and 1,688 points, good for 10th and eighth all-time, respectively.
