Ottawa Senators Erik Karlsson is one of the rare NHL defensemen that can create plays with his skates more than most of the other forwards on his team. It makes him a lethal penalty killer, as the Carolina Hurricanes found out on Saturday.
As the Senators killed off a penalty late in the first period, Clarke MacArthur freed the puck along the boards and let Jason Spezza carry it out of the zone. Look at where Karlsson was when this all began.
And look where he ended up once he turned on the afterburners.
Yeesh. Are we sure Karlsson isn't going to speed skate for Sweden in Sochi?
