5 NHL Questions: Yankee Stadium hockey set to start, Phoenix chases Vancouver

Ed Mulholland-USA TODAY Sports

A daily feature which asks the five biggest questions about today's NHL action. Will they be answered? (That doesn't count as one of the five questions.)

1. Who wins the Pinstripe Classic?

Not that anyone's calling it that. The Devils and Rangers play in the second Stadium Series game on Sunday within the snowy confines of Yankee Stadium. New York has been red-hot lately, and they're set to face the weaker of the two Devils netminders in Martin Brodeur. Will Rick Nash and company make this an easy win?

2. Can Phoenix close the gap?

The Coyotes have been chasing the Vancouver Canucks for most of the season, but they haven't managed to pull within two points so far. They have that opportunity on Sunday when the 'Yotes pay a visit to Vancouver. A win would close the race for eighth place in the West to just two points.

3. Does Devan Dubnyk show up his old team?

Dubnyk was traded from Edmonton to Nashville just a couple of weeks ago. The transition hasn't been smooth, but Dubynk has enjoyed better defensive play in front of him since the trade. On Sunday he'll get the chance to beat the Oilers when they come to town to visit.

4. Can the Hawks complete the series sweep?

Chicago has beaten the Jets in all three meetings this season and can complete the sweep on Sunday. But the Jets are riding high off a big win against Toronto. Can Ondrej Pavelec show any signs of improvement against the vaunted Blackhawks?

5. Which improved team comes out on top in Detroit?

The Detroit Red Wings and Florida Panthers are both truly impressive right now. The Wings have battled a ridiculous amount of injuries and remained in the hunt in the East, while the Panthers are much improved since hiring Peter Horachek as their new head coach. Both teams enter Sunday's contest hot.
