Tim Thomas clubs Carl Soderberg, would have rather watched State of the Union

Jean-Yves Ahern-USA TODAY Sports

Tim Thomas didn't have fun in his first start in Boston since leaving the Bruins.

Tim Thomas made his first start in Boston on Tuesday night since leaving the Bruins and he didn't seem to enjoy any of it.

The combination of an off night in the crease and his Panthers teammates leaving him out to dry for most of the night resulted in him allowing six goals on 41 shots in a 6-2 loss. He also took out some frustration late in the game and earned a two-minute minor for high-sticking when he clubbed Carl Soderberg with three seconds to play in regulation following a close encounter in front of the net.

So that could have gone better. What couldn't have gone better was Thomas' post-game meeting with the media when he said that it would have been more fun to watch the state of the union address on Tuesday night.

Thomas, of course, made headlines after the Bruins' 2011 Stanley Cup win when he skipped the team's visit to the White House for political reasons.
