Ryan Miller will be making his first appearance for team USA in the 2014 Olympics on Sunday as he gets the start in net against Slovenia.

Miller, the 2010 Olympic MVP after helping to carry the United States to a silver medal, had served as the backup to Jonathan Quick in the first two games of the tournament.

With a win, Team USA will clinch the top spot in Group A and automatically move on to the quarterfinal of the knockout round.

Miller posted a .946 save percentage in six games during the 2010 games to go with a 5-1 record, which made it a little bit of a surprise that the coaching staff went with Quick to open the tournament, especially after the way Miller has played this season for a terrible Buffalo Sabres team. In 39 games with the Sabres this season Miller has a .923 save percentage.

Detroit Red Wings goalie Jimmy Howard will serve as Miller's backup on Sunday.

The only other expected change for the Americans is forward Derek Stepan, who will also make his tournament debut in place of Max Pacioretty.
