According to Canadiens coach Michel Therrien, Price aggravated a previous lower body injury during the Olympics and is currently listed as being "day-to-day." He will not play against the Red Wings on Wednesday or Pittsburgh on Thursday.
Price played through the injury in Sochi, allowing just three goals in five games and recording a pair of shutouts during Canada's gold-winning performance.
After leaving practice on Wednesday, the Canadiens at least produced a couple of laughs by replacing him in net with a cardboard cutout:
Wednesday was already a scheduled night off for Price, but he will not even be in uniform when the Canadiens take on the Detroit Red Wings. Peter Budaj will get the start while the team called Dustin Tokarski up from the American Hockey league to back that Budaj up.
Price has been one of Montreal's best players this season with a .925 save percentage in 48 games.
