Tim Thomas stops Mike Green breakaway after falling on his butt

Kevin Hoffman-USA TODAY Sports

It's going to take a lot to beat Florida Panthers goalie Tim Thomas on a breakaway. Even if he falls down.

Tim Thomas has made a lot of saves in his NHL career, but there is a good chance that none have been more ridiculous than what he was a part of in the third period against the Washington Capitals on Thursday night when he stopped Mike Green on a breakaway.

Yeah. He fell on his butt in a tie game and somehow still managed to make the save. Amazing. Hockey is the best.

Unfortunately for Thomas and the Panthers Alex Ovechkin would score the game-winner just a couple of minutes later and the Panthers fell to Washington, 5-4.

But this is the only play we will remember.
