Red Wings vs. Wild: Jimmy Howard robs Kyle Brodziak

Howard is in peak form on Sunday.

As a goalie, if you're going to leave your net you better make it worth the risk. Detroit Red Wings netminder Jimmy Howard followed that rule in spectacular fashion on Sunday.

Midway through the first period, the Minnesota Wild managed to penetrate the Red Wings' defense and pull Howard out of his crease. This sequence led to a point-blank chance for Wild forward Kyle Brodziak, but Howard shut the door quickly.

Ah, so that's why Team USA brought him to Sochi. Howard's heroics kept the game scoreless before Gustav Nyquist scored minutes later to give Detroit a 1-0 lead.
