The Buffalo Sabres are certainly sellers as the trade deadline nears closer. A few hours ahead of that 3 p.m. deadline, Buffalo made another move gearing up for its future, shipping defenseman Brayden McNabb and two second round picks to the Los Angeles Kings for prospects Hudson Fasching and Nic Deslauriers.
Pending trade call, sounds like BUF sends Brayden McNabb and two 2nd round picks to LA for two prospects - one of them Hudson Fasching.— Bob McKenzie (@TSNBobMcKenzie) March 5, 2014
Fasching is currently a freshman at the University of Minnesota. After being selected in the fourth round last year by Los Angeles, Fasching has made major strides in his first year as a collegiate, had a good showing for the United States at the World Juniors tournament, and is one of the top prospects in all of college hockey. Deslauriers is a defenseman currently in the AHL who is having a breakout year offensively for the Manchester Monarchs, tallying 18 goals and 21 assists in 60 games played, both career highs for him in the minors.
For the Kings, McNabb represents a defenseman Los Angeles was looking to acquire, as the 23-year-old has appeared in 12 games for the Sabres this season.
