On one of the most emotional days of his life, New York Rangers forward Martin St. Louis created one of the most special moments of the 2014 NHL Playoffs.

St. Louis is playing with a heavy heart on Sunday, as his mother passed away from a heart attack on Thursday night at the age of 63. After mourning all week, St. Louis acknowledged that playing Game 6 on Mother's Day would be an emotional experience.

Boy, was it ever. After Rangers fans at Madison Square Garden chanted his name on his first shift, St. Louis opened the scoring with a goal just minutes later.

The goal is exactly what the Rangers needed, as it gave them early momentum in a win-or-go-home Game 6. But more importantly, perhaps it was exactly what Martin St. Louis needed on this Mother's Day. Good for him.
