In the end, it was the first one, which was put in by Derrick Brassard, that counted as the game-winner to give the Rangers a 1-0 series lead thanks to a 3-2 win in Pittsburgh.
Here's what happened: After a Rob Scuderi turnover, Brassard had an uncontested shot in front of the net that initially appeared to hit the post. As the Penguins continued to chase the puck around in their own end and fail to clear it, Benoit Pouliot put the puck in the net for what was going to be the game-winner and his second goal of the game. But after review it was clear that Brassard's initial shot went in and he was correctly given credit for it.
Here is the final sequence in all of its madness.
