Listed at 5'10, 180 pounds, Fiala is described as a dynamic offensive threat with game-breaking skills by the ISS. Fiala finished the year ranked as the No. 20 prospect in the 2014 draft class in the ISS yearend report. He is praised for his above-average play with and without the puck:
Fiala has shown a knack for creating off the rush through his combination of elusive speed, strength on his feet and puck creativity that turned heads this season with HV71 Men's and Junior team as well with Switzerland at the U18s. When at his best he shows a knack of finding open ice off the puck and getting himself in scoring areas, pucks finding him in the offensive zone. He is incredibly elusive and crafty when carrying the puck and has the ability to get himself out of coverage through his agile skating. Explosive stride and his outside speed tends to catch defenders on their heels. Equally lethal through his vision or shot, reads and sees the ice well but is a deceptive shooter as he catches goalies looking.
Fiala has represented Switzerland in international competition on several occasions, including the 2013-14 World Championship where he recorded two assists in nine games.
