Stanley Cup Final 2014: Wayne Gretzky with the ceremonial puck drop

The best player in NHL history, and a member of both the Kings and Rangers in his career, was on hand to kick off the 2014 Stanley Cup Final.

Wayne Gretzky spent 10 of his 19 NHL seasons playing for the Los Angeles Kings and New York Rangers, scoring 303 of his 894 career goals with the two teams.

With Kings and Rangers facing off in the Stanley Cup Final this year, it was only natural that Gretzky, the greatest player in NHL history, would on hand to drop the ceremonial first puck before Game 1 on Wednesday night.

And here he is getting things started between Brad Richards and Kings captain Dustin Brown.

And he even had some one-liners for the occasion before the game.

Because Gretzky has to own all of the records.
