And it's the Dallas Stars.
The Senators sent their longtime center to Dallas on Tuesday, a little less than an hour before the free agent signing period began, in what could be one of the bigger moves of the offseason. In return, the Senators will receive forwards Alex Chiasson, Alex Guptill, Nicholas Paul and a second-round pick in 2015, according to TSN's Bob McKenzie.
The Senators are also sending Ludwig Karlsson to the Stars as part of the deal.
It's a significant move for a Stars team that returned to the playoffs last season after a lengthy drought and already has an impressive young core built around Tyler Seguin, Valeri Nichushkin and Jamie Benn. Adding a proven playmaker like Spezza to that mix should only make Dallas more lethal offensively.
Spezza is in the final year of a contract that pays him $7 million per season.
In 75 games for the Senators last season, Spezza scored 23 goals to go with 43 assists.
