St. Louis signs Paul Stastny to 4-year deal

One of the top free agents is off the market as the St. Louis Blues have locked up Paul Stastny.

Paul Stastny may have been the top player on the free agent market, but he's available no longer, as the St. Louis Blues have reportedly locked up the former Av to a 4-year deal.

A day after Colorado shipped P.A. Parenteau to Montreal, the team lost its top center in Stastny, who will reportedly get $28 million over the four years of this deal. St. Louis gets deeper down the middle, a position they already had some pretty good talent at with the likes of David Backes and T.J. Oshie. The Blues also re-upped Patrik Berglund this offseason. The Kings certainly have provided a good model for depth down the middle, as they boasted a lineup that feeatured Anze Kopitar, Jeff Carter, Mike Richards, and Jarrett Stoll.

Earlier today, the Stars traded for Jason Spezza, giving them a top-two center tandem of Spezza and Tyler Seguin. And on draft day, the Ducks acquired Ryan Kesler, who adds to the center depth of the Ducks and Ryan Getzlaf.
