It's just a few games past the halfway point of the season, but Matt Nieto may have the best case for goal of the year right here. Moments after the Sharks tied the Senators, 2-2, in the third period, the 23-year-old capped off the comeback for San Jose with a highlight reel goal for the ages.
You won't find a more complete sequence than what San Jose just pulled off. From Chris Tierney's backhanded keep in to Joonas Donskoi and his toe drag around the Ottawa defense and finally to Nieto's finish around Craig Anderson, it's a stellar play from start to finish.
The puck never stops moving from the moment it leaves Tierney's stick at the blue line to Nieto's backhander past a diving Anderson. It's a once in a lifetime play and the Sharks were able to pull it off with brilliance.
