SORTING OUT THE WIDEMAN MESS: You might have missed it (late-night West Coast game, and all) but Calgary Flames defenseman Dennis Wideman did something incredibly strange and awful last night. And it's shocking enough that I'm still not sure exactly what happened. Did he intentionally shove a referee to the ice for (seemingly) no reason? After watching it a few times, I think he was just dazed after a hit and didn't notice the referee until the last second. But who knows. Either way, it's shocking video. And totally out of character.
DISCIPLINED: The league has confirmed they're investigating the incident, so could Wideman be suspended?
THE UNHERALDED, PART 2: Writers from around the blogosphere are uniting to figure out which players in each division are the most under-appreciated. Today, the Pacific Division is featured!
OVI AND OUT: If he wasn't already, John Scott is now the most exciting thing at the All-Star game. Why? Because Alex Ovechkin isn't going. Don't tell Jaromir Jagr, who's apparently still trying very hard to get out of the event.
LADD IT GO: Word on the street says the Jets might let captain Andrew Ladd walk this summer, opting to sign Dustin Byfuglien instead. If that's the case, New York Rangers fans should stop salivating over Ladd. He isn't the answer.
PIRRI ON THE MOVE?: Funny how trade rumors start flying everywhere once we're just a month out from the trade deadline. Florida apparently wants to move Brandon Pirri, and the Jets are reportedly very interested.
NO CHOICE: Morgan Rielly is due for a contract extension in Toronto, and the Maple Leafs really only have one logical option: sign the man.
HE'S BACK: His performance in a thrilling overtime win on Wednesday was proof the old Jakub Voracek is back.

RIGHT IDEA: The Dallas Stars are going about the penalty kill the right way, but the execution is lacking.
MATURITY VS. PETULANCE: Vinny Lecavalier's success in Los Angeles highlights the difference between the consummate veteran and the petulant youth of Jonathan Drouin.
TIME TO BAIL: The Canadiens are a sinking ship, and you can lay blame at the feet of the front office.
COME HANG OUT WITH US: If you're in Nashville, here's how you can meet up with the On The Forecheck crew at All-Star Weekend.
