Forwards score empty netters all the time in hockey. They’re pretty much free game for anyone — even goaltenders.
This, however, may be the first time we see one score an empty netter — from a blocked shot.
Steve Bernier, a right winger for the Bridgeport Sound Tigers in the AHL, did just that in their 4-2 victory over the Hartford Wolf Pack.

The Wolf Pack player who passed the puck before the blocked shot from the point attempted to stop the slow-rolling puck before it crossed the goal line, but to no avail.
Now that right there is a goal Bernier won't forget.
