Thirty-year-old hockey veteran Dion Phaneuf is probably a bit too old by now to have a case of the nerves. Regardless of the reason, Phaneuf is not having a great night by any standards in his first game as a member of the Ottawa Senators.
Approximately 34 hours after being traded to the city northeast of Toronto, Phaneuf's welcome party took a bit of a literal tumble as the defenseman himself went toppling just moments into the Senators' game against the Detroit Red Wings.

If that wasn't enough, Phaneuf got turned around by Red Wings captain Henrik Zetterberg on Detroit's second goal of the night that essentially put the game away for the home team.

Not the way Phaneuf was planning on starting his career in Ottawa, that's for sure.
